This thing stil gets views?

I'm mildly surprised that this blog still gets views. I abandoned it because the amount of upkeep required to keep it going was eating into my social life, studies, and work. It got to the point where I would try and make posts from work.

Though as seeing as I get around 10 page views a day from no new posts, if I made posts constantly I might get even more page views.

I've attempted to revive this blog but there is something odd about building habits. I'll make a post, then completely other about it.

Perhaps I'll make a reminder on my phone.

I don't want to drop this and it's something that looks good on a portfolio. So to all my readers whom have supported me, I am trying and I will do my best!

Digital Dance Club 2/5/2013

Nemi and I hit it hard in the studio at KXUA this past week.

We were in the process of adjusting our show format to be more "listener friendly". This involved letting tracks playing out, making a huge effort to announce the tracks every few songs and also letting the locals know of upcoming EDM events.

Through this whole process we figured this out:

1. Mixing every 5-6 minutes gets boring and old. We are back to doing our regular thing.
2. Announcing tracks is good, but with faster mixing that calls for less music and more talking, and we are firm believers that this show is all about the music.
3. Locality and just awesome news in the EDM scene worldwide is pretty important to us.

I know I've been away for quite awhile (to put it lightly), but I've got some amazing music lined up to share  with you, as well as a few stories about what I've been up to all summer.  Expect to hear the latest music from Birdy Nam Nam and The Weeknd along with a tasty hodgepodge of everything I've been able to scrounge up over this past year.  I'm currently working towards upgrading my equipment to an entirely digital, tour friendly, rig...but in the meantime, don't be too upset if there are a few mixing slips here and there.  I tend to get really excited in the studio, so listen and enjoy if you don't mind or hate my face if you well...do mind.

Great mix right here (Hardstyle)!

When I'm looking around for good music I check places like YouTube, SoundCloud and BeatPort.  This mix I found on youtube, and it's the kind of hardstyle that I could listen to ALL day.

TOTD: Years (Vocal Extended Mix) - Alesso, Matthew Koma

I got a great track for you guys today.  This brand new track was released just a few days ago and has already topped the Beatport charts as #1.  Not many tracks can top charts just three days after it's release. 

This song features the vocals of Matthew Koma along with some sweet piano melodies in the break.  The piano entranced me when I first hear it.  But as a standard progressive house song it also has a great synth line during the build and drop.   

DJs::  This track is easy to mix, and it's quite short actually.  Just remember mixing vocals onto other vocals at the same time usually doesn't sound good, so best not to try it unless you find a good track to match it with.

Anyways, definitely check this track out!

Update Update Update!

Alright, so I'm going to make this nice and quick.
But first a pic!

• The show on Tuesday night went quite well.  Everyone there enjoyed my mixing, even the DJs that invited me.  I was even invited to play another show on the 21st of August.  This is going the direction I want it to go. 
• I got more connections in the scene.  I met more DJs, Club owners, Gogo dancers, etc.  The Gogos tend to be all over me as I'm one of the younger DJs.  Can't deny saying that some of the Gogos aren't too bad looking.
• I missed two days of work from being sick.  (I must have eaten something.)  But I decided to make the best of my time by making bead sprites for my buddy to sell.  So at least I'll make some money from the day off, right?
• I finished watching Air Gear, the anime.  I've gotta say for a good anime, the ending was the worse.

That's about it.  It's friday, and I've got National Guard drill this weekend.  Ready for the fun!  :D

Spinning Tonight

Twisted Tuesdays is a weekly EDM party that brings in the best local DJs.  I happen to be opening tonight.  I'm pretty excited as this is my first show in a long while.  I haven't performed in quite some time, so I am a bit nervous.
